The class will run on Mon 1000-1200 Starting 07/3/2011 till 20/6/11. This is an entry level course but students should be comfortable using a computer and managing their files.

E-LEARNING INNOVATIONS BENEFIT RURAL STUDENTS

E-LEARNING INNOVATIONS BENEFIT RURAL STUDENTS

TAFE NSW Riverina Institute has received funding to provide information technology training to students in rural and remote areas through flexible delivery.

Web conferences, Moodles, Podcasts, Screencasts and Virtual Machines are some of the innovative tools to be used by Riverina Institute in delivering e-learning education across a range of Information Technology subjects.

Funded and supported by the Australian Flexible Learning Framework, these innovative training and assessment methods are increasing training options for rural and remote learners while also helping to reduce the national skills shortage.

The funds will support the delivery of a range of courses using leading edge e-learning technologies throughout 2011 including IT Networking, IT Security, RFID and Green IT.

"These courses are a great opportunity for people who can't attend face to face training because of difficulties posed by time or distance," commented Head of IT Department George Holt. "We've had a great response from people wanting to get a start in the IT industry and those in the industry who want to gain formal qualifications."

Enrolments are open now for semester one flexible delivery courses in Information Technology (Networking).
